Brilliant Garland Hanging Hack Is All Over Social Media And It’s Easy
Over the weekend, as I was scrolling through Instagram and Facebook, I saw at least three videos of women trying a ‘garland hanging hack’. Today, as I was looking around on different websites for show content, I see the ‘hack’ again. I’m guessing it’s one of the biggest decorating ideas this holiday season, so I figured I’d share in case you haven’t seen it.
According to Good Housekeeping, the latest trick to beautifying your home for the holidays is by using a shower rod. Videos of folks using a shower rod to hang garland between doorways is all over social media. The trend is going viral on Instagram and on TikTok. This decor trick is easy and pretty inexpensive.
What you do is you hang garland from a tension shower curtain rod placed between entryway arches or doorways. Some folks are even using the hack in between kitchen cabinets. I haven’t seen a video of that move yet, but I’ve seen a few ladies trying the decorating hack in arches and doorways.
Here’s How It Works
The first thing you do is secure a curtain rod at eye level. Then, arrange and place greenery around the rod. You may need a zip tie or two to make sure it stays secure. After you have the greenery where you want it, you can place decorative items like lights, ribbons, or ornaments to the greenery. What you decorate with is totally up to you! Once you’re happy with the final look, just raise the tension rod into position and tighten it as much as possible.
It looks absolutely beautiful! And you won’t damage your walls which is a huge bonus! If I lived in a bigger place, I’d totally try this! It truly adds an extra element of magic to your home for the holidays. In addition, it looks so amazing! It’s not pricey and it’s easy! Well, pretty easy.
Watching numerous videos on Instagram, it does seem as if it’s a bit tricky at the beginning. A curtain rod is slick, so trying to place the garland around it without it slipping off is a pain. Zip ties will help lots! And you can’t see them. You may need a second person to help you get the garland around the rod, but after that, it rolls smoothly.
According to Good Housekeeping, home decorator @thekwendyhome was one of the first to share the holiday secret on social media a few weeks ago. Since her post, lots of decorators and DIY folks have given it a try. Looking at @thekwendyhome page, she is CRAFTY! And makes amazing DIY things! You wanna see some gorgeous stuff, follow her on Instagram. I wish I was crafty! I just don’t have a lot of patience. LOL!
@thekwendyhome Here’s a Christmas decorating hack for you! Damage free garland hanging with a shower curtain rod! I had to try it for myself after seeing @Letneeutro do it! I took the shower curtain from our guest bathroom and tested this out for myself. It has held up really well! I even put my heavy Norfolk pine garlands on and it didn’t budge. This is perfect for renters and those who don’t want to put nails in their walls. And an added bonus is that you don’t get a crick in your neck or get tired arms from decorating 😅 I linked everything on my LTK in my bio. Now go forth and deck those halls. #deckthehalls #christmasdecorating #christmas #christmas2023 #christmasdecor #decorhack #decorhacks #christmashack #christmashacks #garland #christmasgarland #christmasgarlandhack #homedecor #damagefreedecor #rentalfriendlydecor
