Why So Many People Are So In Love With Taylor And Travis
Folks around the world are obsessing over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. My mom, who knows nothing about Swift’s music, is invested in the couple and is hoping they get married. On Saturday, I saw a neighbor and she asked me what I was doing for the big game on Sunday. She then started talking about Swift and Kelce. She’s also hoping they get married. I started thinking about why so many people are following their relationship.
If you’d have told me five years ago that I’d be talking about Taylor Swift, I’d have told you, you were insane. And yet here I am. I’m pretty sure my ‘rock and roll’ card is going to be taken away at some point. I mean, I listen to Motorhead and Iron Maiden! That said, there is something about Taylor Swift that is interesting, and I get why people are loving her new relationship.
The Disney Effect
No matter your age, growing up you probably watched some Disney movies. As kids, most of us weren’t fully aware of the dark side of many of the movies. We weren’t capable of recognizing the tragedy that happens in most of the movies. What lots of us did focus on, especially young girls, was the romanticism of the movies. The gorgeous prince’s coming to save the pretty damsel in distress. ‘Cinderella’ is a great example. Many girls, sometimes into early adulthood, were waiting on their ‘Prince Charming.’
As you grow up, you begin to realize that ‘Prince Charming’ doesn’t really exist, and it’s a buzzkill. I know that there are some people in the world that have ‘perfect’ partners, but the Disney love story is quite rare. Many of us are so enamored with Taylor and Travis because they are giving off that ‘Disney’ vibe. Taylor has kissed many frogs, and it seems as if Travis is her prince.
We Love A Happy Ending
People love a happy ending! We love romantic comedies, and romance movies and books because a happy ending makes us smile. Seeing a strong, very successful woman find a man that seems to be her equal is rare. Usually, there’s jealousy of the other’s success and attention. In this case, both seem to be confident in who they are and truly supportive of one another.
The Royal Family is exciting to many people because of the money, fame, and love stories. When the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana took place in 1981, the world was enthralled. It was a real-life fairy tale coming to life and folks got to watch. Millions of people were watching that wedding and talking about it for not only months, but years! Some still talk about it!
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are our ‘royalty’ if you will. From what I can gather, the guy’s Swift has dated previously weren’t as confident or as successful as Kelce. Yes, she’s dated successful men before, but none as successful as her. It seems like Kelce is a good match for her. The couple gives ‘fairy tale vibes’ and in today’s world, we could all use that.
