North Carolina Teen Wins $2-Million Lottery Jackpot
Sometimes you just have to trust your gut. An 18-year-old from Laurinburg, North Carolina, who didn’t have much experience playing the lottery, recently won a big jackpot after listening to his gut. It was telling him to buy a scratch off ticket.
Despite not having bought many lottery tickets before, while at a convenience store in Laurel Hill, Donnie Leviner says, “something just told me to buy it.” According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Leviner picked up a $20 Big Cash Payout scratch off ticket and after playing it realized that he’d won the games top prize of $2-million.
Leviner’s Lottery Luck
At first, Leviner couldn’t believe his good luck at the convenience store, saying, “I really didn’t think it was true.” He added, “I initially just went there to fill up the lawn mower.” Not only is it a good thing Donnie followed his instinct, it was also fortunate that his mower was out of gas that day.
Earlier this week, the lucky teenager went to North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters to collect his winnings. He had the option of either getting $100-thousand a year for 20 years, or a lump sum of $1.2-million. He chose the lump sum, taking home over $850-thousand after taxes.
While he hasn’t made concrete plans for his newfound wealth, Donnie says he wants to use it wisely. I’m pretty sure if I had come into that kind of money when I was 18, spending it “wisely” would not have been part of the equation.
