2 Popular South Carolina Destinations Named The Most In-Demand Vacations For 2024

If you haven’t planned that summer vacation yet now is the time. Summer is essentially here and it’s time to hit up the beach or wherever your dream getaway is. If you are here in the Carolinas you’re in luck because two popular South Carolina destinations were just named as two of the most in-demand vacations of the year.

This means you won’t have to travel far to have a dream summer getaway! This is according to HomeToGo’s, 2024 Summer Travel Forecast. The study looked at vacation preferences and plans of U.S. travelers.

Popular South Carolina Destinations For Your 2024 Vacation

According to the survey, 76% of Americans have summer trips planned. It’s no surprise that beach destinations are among the most in-demand and the two popular South Carolina destinations that made this list are both on the coast.

And both are wonderful places for that summer vacations, though they are VERY different in my opinion.

Myrtle Beach

Ranking as the second most in-demand destination nationally is the tourist hot spot of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. If you’re looking for activities this is by far the South Carolina beach for you.

Here you’ll find tourist classics like Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museums, mini golf on every corner, every restaurant you can imagine, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, outlets, dinner shows, and more.

High-rise hotels line the beaches. My personal advice? If you’re going more for the beach stay a little north or south. You’ll be a close enough drive to the amenities but it will be quieter and a little “nicer”.

Hilton Head Island

On the opposite end of the South Carolina coast, you’ll find the island of Hilton Head. This small beach town ranked as the 4th most in-demand vacation spot.

Here you’ll find spas and resorts, golfing, white sand beaches, and a slower pace of life. Activities include things for all ages to enjoy.

While these two spots couldn’t be more different they do have one thing in common besides being popular South Carolina destinations. They both make a great vacation you and your family are sure to love.

North Carolina Town No. 2 Prettiest Coastal Town In The South

What beach isn’t pretty? There is something so beautiful about where the ocean meets the sand that keeps us flocking to the beach. But what are the prettiest Carolina beaches? That’s such a hard question as everyone has a favorite. But according to Southern Living Magazine 6 coastal Carolina towns are among the South’s prettiest.

But of course, if you’ve grown up here that should be nothing more than confirmation to you. Though I’ll go ahead and spoil it a little for you and let you know that none of the North Carolina towns are on the Outer Banks. I know you OBX people are passionate about your beaches. Sorry to admit I’ve never been!

Now is the perfect time to book that beach vacation. Whether you want to get a jump start on the summer plans or perhaps take your trip before it gets too crazy! The good news is that at least some of these 6 coastal towns are a little calmer than places like Myrtle Beach.

The list was curated by Southern Living who let’s be honest are the experts when it comes to destinations in the South. These towns are described by the publication as having “charming downtowns, excellent waterfront dining, gracious places to stay, and scenic vistas”. All things I certainly look for in a relaxing beach vacation.
