Some Important Folks On Strike
Of course, this is one of the busiest travel times of the year. About a million folks plan to flow through Charlotte Douglas International during the Thanksgiving season. The reason for the strike? Well, according to wsoctv.com the reason is primarily money. Tim Lowe is a service worker and tells Channel 9, “I know a lot of people, they bring their cars or U-Hauls, I got friends who live in U-Hauls”.
Some of the workers say they have become homeless or living in their cars or vans. By 11 on Monday morning, the strikers are supposed to be located at the corner of Wilkinson Boulevard and Josh Birmingham Parkway.
Around 700 service workers at the airport reportedly earn between $12.50 and $19.00. The living wage according to the Union is $23.00. Lowe continued to tell Channel 9 reporter Glenn Counts,
“At the job, I can’t afford to get into an actual one or two-bedroom”. For more information about Charlotte Douglas airport workers going on strike, get details on what we did from wsoctv.com.
