Unless you married your first love and lived happily ever after, chances are you’ve endured a breakup or two. How did you get through it? For many people, healing from a breakup involves listening to a lot of music.
You’d think it would be the opposite, like “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves to cheer you up. Nope. No one ever put on Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” after they’ve been dumped. Experts say listening to so-called breakup songs is actually a healthy way to deal with the grief of losing the relationship. And not all breakup songs are sad. Some of them are about picking yourself back up and moving on. They’re “recovery anthems.”
According to Study Finds, dating site eharmony curated a list of the 30 best breakup songs by asking Brits about their favorites. Personally, I think the fact that a dating site did this might indicate a lack of faith in their own service, but whatever. Coming in at #1 on the heartbreak chart is Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black.” That’s a great song even if you’re not depressed! Check out the top ten below.
