Every year, it starts with approximately 1,500 dogs representing over 200 breeds and varieties recognized by the American Kennel Club. But this year, it all came down to Winston. The three-year-old French Bulldog won Best in Show at the 2022 National Dog Show, which aired Thanksgiving Day on NBC.

This is the second time in four years that a bulldog has won the National Dog Show's highest honor. While the French Bulldog is categorized as a Non-Sporting breed, Winston appears to have somewhat of a "sporting" background. According to Bleacher Report, Winston is co-owned by NFL player Morgan Fox, a defensive end with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Here are the finalists from each breed group in the 2022 National Dog Show, starting with the Best in Show winner:

Non-Sporting: Winston (French Bulldog) - BEST IN SHOW

Herding: River (German Shepherd)

Hounds: Nate (Treeing Walker Coonhound)

Sporting: Sloane (Irish Water Spaniel)

Toy: Cooper (English Toy Spaniel)

Working: Reus (Alaskan Malamute)
