If you are looking for the perfect nature getaway in North Carolina then Lakeview at Fontana is it. Located in Bryson City, North Carolina the Lakeview at Fontana is an absolutely gorgeous getaway for relaxing, unplugging, and reconnecting. It’s no secret that I am passionate about nature and travel. Relaxation and the beauty of North Carolina are the hallmarks of this boutique resort tucked away in the mountains. During your stay, you can enjoy nature and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

  • The Stay & Room

There are a variety of rooms available at Lakeview at Fontana, including suites with kitchenettes. There is self-check-in at the hotel, which I liked because we visited the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and did not feel rushed for time. The property is 100% smoke-free and observes quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 9:00 AM. The suite we stayed in had a king-size bed. The room was decorated minimalistic and featured beautiful plants inside. The bed was so comfy and the bathroom came with everything we needed. To promote unplugging and unwinding, the rooms don’t have TVs. I actually love this because I stare at a screen all week. With no distractions, we had some time to talk, relax, and snuggle together.

  • What You Can Expect

There are so many things to see and do at the resort and in the surrounding area. From Sunday until Tuesday, we stayed at the resort and hiked in the Great Smokies, visited two local North Carolina Breweries in Bryson City, and enjoyed a Treetop Soaking Cabana. I loved Lakeview at Fontana’s honor markets. They have so many spa items, accessories and cute decor for your home. We ended up purchasing some hanging plant bowls (which they have in the rooms and I loved) bracelets and also a Turkish blanket. The self-pay Honor Markets offer Grab & Go food, snacks, bath & body products, and travel essentials 24/7, so you can satisfy that late-night sweet tooth or replace a forgotten toothbrush.

  • The Treetop Soak

The treetop soaking tub and cabana are really what make Lakeview at Fontana unique. The cabana is located at the very top of the resort; it is completely private and secluded. The resort hosts two treetop cabanas (A & B) and both are easy to get to. After walking up a short path through the woods and a few stairs, you’ll land at your magical destination. My favorite part of the trip was definitely the tree top soak. With the provided bath salts, you have 90 minutes to enjoy the view with your significant other. You can soak in the views of the Great Smokies and Lake Fontana. Additionally, there are items available to upgrade your soak at the honor markets. During your rental, bath products, soaking salts, robes, and music are all provided. Drinks are allowed, just no glass. We brought snacks and beverages with us when we did our soak. It is such a romantic experience.

  • What You Can Enjoy

    • 2.5 mile hiking trail
    • Outdoor pool (open late May to Oct. 1st)
    • Lounging casitas w/chair hammocks
    • Deck overlooking Fontana Lake and the Great Smoky Mountains
    • Self-pay Honor Markets for snacks, bath & body products, and necessities
    • Morning pastries daily from 8 am to 10 am & 24/7 coffee in the trendy wifi lounge

  • The Waterfalls

It is an easy hike and there are three waterfalls to see in the area. These are all located in the Great Smokey Mountains Park. When we went it pouring rain unexpectedly, so my recommendation is always bring a raincoat or umbrella.

  • Final Thoughts

Having a romantic soak while you enjoy a North Carolina getaway is the perfect combination. If you’re looking for a nature getaway, I highly recommend Lakeview at Fontana. My significant other and I both left the resort feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. It was a great little break from our everyday routine and only three-hours away from Charlotte, North Carolina.
