There’s music and then there’s baby-making music. A zoo in the UK is counting on the latter to do the trick for some of their animals.
According to UPI, there’s been an ongoing effort to get 140 Barbary macaques to mate at the Trentham Monkey Forest in England. It hasn’t been going as well as hoped, so the zoo came up with an idea.
Trentham Monkey Forest hired singer David Largie to serenade the monkeys with a variety of mood-setting tunes. His specialty? The music of Marvin Gaye. Who better than a Marvin Gaye impersonator to help the monkeys find a little “Sexual Healing?”
“We thought it would be a creative way to encourage our females to show a little affection to males who haven’t been so lucky,” said Park Director Mark Lovatt. It’s currently mating season but the staff will have to wait until the summer to find out if the sultry serenade brings any babies to the zoo. In the meantime, “Let’s Get It On…”
