Who’s Got The EGOT?
It’s the grand slam of the entertainment world: EGOT. That stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony and not many people have won all four awards. However, John Legend is getting close. With his 2017 Tony Award as co-producer of the Broadway play Jitney, John is just an Emmy away from the EGOT. Bette Midler is in the same boat. She earned a Tony last Sunday night for her starring role in Hello, Dolly! If Bette can win an Oscar, she’ll have her EGOT.
I know you’re curious so here’s the list of luminaries who have completed the very impressive quadruple play and when they did it:
Richard Rodgers (composer), 1962
Helen Hayes (actress), 1977
Rita Moreno (actress/singer), 1977
