BTS Is Taking An Extended Break To ‘Rest & Recharge’
The BTS Army is all in their feelings this morning. Why? Because BTS is taking a hiatus, the K-pop’s first break since 2013. But, don’t worry, this isn’t a breakup.
After the sextet’s show in Seoul on Sunday (Aug. 11), BTS announced it’s taking some time off. In an official statement from the band’s management company, Big Hit Entertainment, the guys—RM, Jungkook, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin and V—will use this time to “rest and recharge.”

In the statement, which was posted in both Korean and English, Big Hit explained that taking time off would “also provide them with a chance to enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s, albeit briefly.” Their management also asked fans to respect the guys’ privacy during this time.
“Should you have a chance encounter with a member of BTS while they are on vacation, we ask that you show consideration for their need to rest and enjoy their private time off,” the company wrote. “BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have and continue to show them.”
As of now, there is no timeline for how long this break could last. But, fans are taking this news with stride, even using Friends memes as a reminder to the guys to not work during this vacation.
Since their 2013 debut, BTS has been on five separate world tours, released six full-length albums, and six EPs, so yes, this break is much-deserved.
