Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough Depart ‘America’s Got Talent’ Over ‘Toxic Workplace’
Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough were both cut from the upcoming season of America’s Got Talent, and now allegations are surfacing as to why.
Variety is reporting that insiders say there was “toxic culture at the show.”
Union and Hough were criticized on their appearance. “Two insiders familiar with the set said Hough had received consistent criticism on hair, makeup and wardrobe, which impacted her morale and led to tensions.” Hough has previously denied this happened. Union reportedly received criticism for her rotating hairstyles being “too black.”
Gabrielle Union has declined to comment on the situation.
NBC released a statement, saying, “‘America’s Got Talent’ has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show. The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.” Read Variety’s full report here.
