Apparently The Japanese REALLY Love Mayo
Mayonnaise is a condiment that you either love or hate. Here in the South, folks are very loyal to their mayo. Most people in this area love Duke’s Mayonnaise. I grew up eating Hellman’s, so that’s my go to. But as much as people in America love their mayonnaise, I believe the Japanese love it more.
There are two new mayonnaise products available in Japan and both seem nasty to me. Phil and I chatted about both yesterday. The first product I found just seems wrong: a mayonnaise flavored ice cream bar. Yes. You read that correctly.
This treat, and I use that term lightly, is called The Calorie Monster Cherio Creamy Mayonnaise Flavor Bar. It’s a mayonnaise ice cream bar that’s coated in white chocolate and cookie crumbs. UGH! You can even order the bar on Amazon. IF you’re interested, or would like to check this thing out, you can do that here.
The other interesting mayonnaise food in Japan is mayonnaise slices. These mayo slices look eerily similar to individually wrapped cheese slices but they apparently taste like mayo. They’re designed to fit on your slices of bread and to take away the need for a spread. Yuck! There are different flavors of the slices, which I can’t even describe cause I’m scared I’ll hurl!
If you’re brave enough to get all the details, you can do that here. I’ll be honest, checking out both these products MAY make ya skip the mayonnaise on your next sandwich. I just don’t get it!
