The Teppers Donate Money For A Special Needs Park
Billionaire Panther’s owner David Tepper and his wife Nicole have donated $500,000 to Miracle Park. Miracle Park is a park for people of all abilities located in Rock Hill, SC. In addition to their personal donation, another $200,000 is being donated from Carolina Panthers Charities.
The park will be the first of its kind in the country. The 15-acre park will be located at 1005 Eden Terrace across from the Winthrop Coliseum. The park will consist of two “miracle fields” and a standard athletic field. The park will also have a state-of-the-art inclusive playground, multipurpose fields, and retail building.
The retail space will be dedicated to employing people with different abilities. Nationally, only 34% of people with intellectual disabilities are employed and only 26% of these have full-time jobs.
Phase 1 of Miracle Park is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by end of Summer 2021. The total Timeline for full completion is 3-4 years,. This is however dependent upon fundraising. The donation by the Teppers will help this timeline. Pre-Tepper donation over $4.4 million had been raised for the project! A total of $6M is needed to complete ALL of Phase 1, and another $2M is needed to complete the future phases.
