Home Listed As “House From Hell” Getting Multiple Offers
This is definitely one way to make a home listing stand out. With the huge demand for homes, even a house of horrors will bring in offers. A home listing in Colorado has gone viral because of it’s honesty and people are loving it.
Mimi Foster, a real estate agent with Falcon Property Company in Colorado Springs, Colorado, recently listed a five-bedroom home in the Broadmoor Bluffs Estates neighborhood for $590,000. The listing has gone viral because it’s described as a “house from hell”.
The house appears fine from the outside, and it’s in a nice neighborhood. The homes around it usually sell for $750,000 to $800,000. Once you enter the home, you see why it’s listed the way it is. The house is a total nightmare. And after years of neglect, the smell inside the home is overwhelming.
Describing the home as “every landlord’s nightmare,” Foster wrote: “If you dream of owning your own little slice of hell and turning it into a piece of heaven, then look no further!” That’ll get your attention! Foster continues with, “Come feast your senses, DO NOT GO ON BACK DECK. DO NOT OPEN FREEZER IN BASEMENT,” she writes in the
Refin listing, which has been viewed more than half a million times.
The owner of the home lives out of state and rented the house for over a decade. The last tenant was evicted in the fall of 2019 for not paying rent. She was allowed back into the home to collect some of her things and ended up trashing the place. There’s black spray paint on the walls, the floors, and all over the fixtures. The freezer in the basement is full of meat and there’s been no electricity in the home in over a year. UGH! I can’t imagine the stench!
Despite all of the nastiness, offers have been made on the home. Foster says she’s only accepting offers from buyers who visit the property due to the smell. $625,000 is the highest bid so far. If you have a lot of fix up money and a ton of patience, then this house may be for you. Personally, I can’t imagine taking this on. The disgusting smell would knock me out of the running. LOL!
