Guy Makes Watermelon Pizza And It’s A Big NO From Me
Watermelon is one of my favorite summertime foods! I love it. It’s the perfect treat on a hot day. But for some reason, people on the internet are trying to ruin one of my all time favorites.
A few weeks ago someone on TikTok went viral for putting yellow mustard on watermelon. Phil and I tried it in our “Nosh or Nasty” segment and we videoed us trying it. Spoiler alert….it was NOT good.
Now a guy on TikTok has made watermelon pizza. Not watermelon on a pizza, but watermelon pizza. The watermelon serves as the “crust” of the pizza. Just seeing the headline made me say no out loud. I know there are folks that like fruit on pizza, I am not one of them. I’ve tried pineapple on pizza and although it’s edible, it’s not my favorite. Fruit does not belong on pizza in my opinion.
@elburritomonster came up with this disaster. He fried the watermelon on each side to caramelize it before spreading barbecue sauce on top and then sprinkling it with cheese. He says it’s actually very tasty if you dare to give it a try! I’ll be honest…I don’t dare. Grilled watermelon I’ve tried, and it’s not bad. Fried watermelon doesn’t sound great to me. And in no way does barbecue sauce and cheese sound tasty on watermelon. Why do folks keep making nasty food mash-ups?! Ugh!
I’ll admit that some of the dishes that @elburritomonster makes looks good, but this ain’t one of them. Would you try this?
