Elderly Woman Receives 5th Degree Black Belt From Chuck Norris
This is as badass as it gets! An 83 year-old grandmother in Utah just received her 5th degree black belt and the legendary Chuck Norris gave her the honor. How cool!
Carole Taylor, who lives in Utah, starting taking karate lessons at age 68. She was taking her granddaughter to lessons and became interested, so she signed up for lessons and started taking lessons along with her granddaughter.
To get her belt, Taylor had to do a demonstration in front of Norris at his annual United Fighting Arts Federation International Training Convention. Talk about pressure! She decided to perform her routine to the Beach Boys’ song “Little Old Lady from Pasadena”. Taylor fooled the crowd by using her bow as a cane to hobble onto the center of the mat, prompting laughter and smiles from Norris and the rest of the crowd. She then straightened her back and began a display of powerful stances and fierce facial expressions. Taylor received a standing ovation from Norris and many in attendance.
If you’re like me, and need some motivation to get off your butt, this may do it! It’s amazing what people can do! Over the weekend my dad competed in powerlifting meet. He’ll be 80 years old in August. He won 1st place and benched 203 pounds, and deadlifted 259 pounds. Not bad for an old guy that’s 180 pounds! And my dad’s body is a mess. LOL! He’s had more surgeries than I have.
Congrats to both of these folks! They may be older in age but their spirit is ageless!
