A mistaken 9-1-1 call led to an impromptu basketball game with Waxhaw Police over the weekend. 9-1-1 dispatchers received a hangup call Saturday afternoon in which they heard screaming in the background. They sent officers to check out the situation. When the officers arrived they realized the call was indeed an accident from kids playing basketball.
The kids challenged the officers to a game and the officers accepted the challenge. Who won? We don’t know for sure. The officers claim they won but as the Facebook post says that “has not been verified”
What a great memory for these kids and I’m sure a much-needed break for the officers as well. I love to see things like this in the community, in this day and age it’s exactly what we need. Kudos to the Waxhaw Police Department!
