Drunken Swimming Pool Intruders Break Bones And Threaten Lawsuit
I don’t know why, but people continue to amaze me. And not in a good way! This is an excellent example of “stupidity at its finest”.
Claire Vickers was drinking for hours on August 4th and then decided to head to a friend’s house to drink some more. Her friend, Barry Douglas, drank with her and the two made an idiot move around midnight. They decided it would be fun to break into a nearby theme park and go down the water slide into the pool. And it did NOT end well for them.
The couple were so hammered that they didn’t notice the sign that said the pool was closed and that the end of the slide was blocked. They both hit the blockage at the end of the slide. BOTH broke a leg and Douglas also broke both his feet. Vickers shattered her left foot along with breaking her leg. Yup.
Unable to move, the two were at the end of the slide for a few hours. Luckily for them, residents in the area called the police, suspecting that some kids broke into the pool. The police found them, and took them to a local hospital.
Obviously the two realize they’re lucky to be alive. If they would have gone down the slide head first, they probably would have been killed. Police didn’t charge the two however the couple are now they’re saying they plan to take legal action because security and fencing at the site aren’t good enough.
Seriously? The signs weren’t good enough? How about owning up to the fact that you made a stupid mistake?! If these two were in their teens or early 20’s, maybe I’d feel bad for them, but both are in their 40’s. At that age you KNOW better! Or you should know better. I can guarantee ya this ordeal smartened them up quick!
Do you think they should sue? I think they should suck it up and take responsibility for being stupid. They should recognize that they made an idiot mistake and deal with the consequences. Hopefully a judge will kick out the lawsuit if they go that route.
