My First Time Experiencing Lake Hickory Haunts
My favorite holiday has always been Halloween. Halloween is the perfect time for me to indulge in candy, costumes, and fright.
Haunted attractions are one of my favorite parts of the season. Both my significant other and I enjoy getting scared on purpose just for fun. In my lifetime, I’ve probably been to at least 20 different haunts, so I’ve seen both the good and the bad. Detail has become increasingly important to me over the years. Haunted attractions that don’t use top-of-the-line animatronics, decor, and horror makeup are less of an adrenaline rush and more of a bust.
Since I couldn’t go to any haunted houses or scary trails in 2020, I was beyond excited to get my scary fix this Halloween. I decided to attempt Lake Hickory Haunts this year for the first time. My biggest fear is waiting too long which is why I decided to visit the attraction on Sunday. Getting to the attraction from Charlotte center city is not that difficult; it is about an hour and a half away. Our arrival at the attraction was around 7:45 pm, and parking was just $5. After you get your ticket, you are given a pass with your serial killer group name on it. You then wait to be called to avoid overcrowding while inside the event.
In the first waiting area, you will find some fun photo ops, scare actors, a food stall, and a VIP Lounge if you choose it. Additionally, there is a giant fire pumpkin where you can warm up. When your killer name is called, you move on to the next section with even more heart-pumping action. In addition to photo opportunities, there is a snack section, ax throwing, a stage where performances take place, and the entrance to your spine-chilling journey. We only waited about thirty minutes before we got to walk through Lake Hickory Haunts. The amount of time I had was perfect because I got to enjoy my fried Oreos and hot cocoa while looking at the decor.
I’m always amazed at how much work goes into creating these spooky spots. In my opinion, Lake Hickory Haunts is one of the best haunted attractions I’ve ever visited. There is a lot of attention to detail, both large and small, which makes the experience more immersive. I won’t entirely spoil it for you, but the Lake Hickory Haunts was awesome! Some of my favorite parts were the alien invasion, animatronic shark, water special effects, and the spooky graveyard.
Overall, I would highly recommend checking out this haunted experience. You will be thoroughly impressed and entertained. Lake Hickory Haunts is open now through November 13th on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. They also are open one Thursday on 10/28. Tickets are cheaper online with General Admission selling for $26 (plus tax), a Fast Pass for $41 (plus tax), and a VIP Pass for $65 (plus tax).
