Carolina Panther Great Opening North Carolina’s First Behavioral Health Urgent Care
This morning former Panther, and one of the greatest to ever put on the uniform, Steve Smith made a big announcement. In a press conference number 89 announced that he along with his foundation announced North Carolina’s first Behavioral Health Urgent Care. During the conference, Smith said he is no longer a football player he is “a servant of this community.” He attributes his priority of addressing mental health to domestic violence he experienced in the past.
The project will be a joint effort between the Steve Smith Family Foundation, Alliance, and Mecklenburg County. It’s expected costs top $2.8 million. The clinic will be an urgent care, just as you would go to for a physical injury or illness, but specifically for behavioral health as well as substance abuse issues.
It’s wonderful to see this type of Behavioral Health Urgent Care facility coming to the area and even better to have such an important member of the community behind it.
