Starbucks Barista Praised For Using Cup To Make Sure Teen Was Safe
Being a teenager has never been easy, but I think it’s definitely more difficult now than when I was young. Sadly, we all have to be aware of our surroundings and watch out for each other! A barista at a Texas Starbucks is being praised for helping a teen she thought was in trouble.
The 18-year-old’s mother, Brandy Roberson, shared the story on her Facebook page on Friday and it’s gone viral. Her daughter went to a Starbucks in Corpus Christi on Saturday night to study. The young lady was approached by a man she didn’t know, and the baristas noticed.
According to Yahoo, the baristas gave the teen a cup with a note written on it. The note said, “Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup.”
The man in question was speaking loudly and he was standing near the teen for a bit. The baristas noticed him because he was loud, and they knew he didn’t come in with the teenaged girl. Once the man realized the young girl was communicating with the staff, he left the girl alone.
The teenager told her mother about the incident as soon as she got home and it warmed her heart. “She was holding the cup and knew that I would love that someone did that for her,” Roberson said. “It made me feel so grateful that the Starbucks employees were watching out for her. As a mom, that is my worst fear that something would happen to my child, and nobody would be there to help.”
Kudos to the staff at this Starbucks! We all get caught up in our own lives and sometimes miss signals from others who might be in danger. These employees definitely deserve praise!
