Hellman’s Mayo Eggnog Is A Thing This Holiday Season
Last year around this time, the folks at Hidden Valley Ranch gave us all a recipe for ‘Ranchnog‘. And I have no doubt some hard-core Ranch fans tried it. This year, the folks at Hellman’s want to hook you up with a recipe for ‘Mayo-Nog’.
According to Food & Wine, Hellman’s says that their mayonnaise has enough egg in it to make the perfect eggnog. Egg is the third ingredient in the mayo, behind oil and water. And to prove that there’s enough egg in it, they’ve come up with a recipe for eggnog.
Now, I realize this will trigger some folks, especially since I was born in Gastonia, but I’m a Hellman’s Mayo fan! I know that Duke’s Mayo rules in down South, but I grew up eating Hellman’s. And I know that there are recipes for numerous things that call for mayo. I’ve heard it’s the perfect ingredient to make chocolate cake extra moist. (I can’t believe I just used that word)
Hellman’s, working in collaboration with mixologist Cody Goldstein, has created the ‘Frozen Mayo-Nog’ recipe. And there’s also a recipe for Snickerdoodle Mayo Cookies. So how do you make this ‘Mayo-Nog’? Ahhhh….there’s an exact recipe.
The ‘Frozen Mayo-Nog’ completely swaps out the egg for mayo. As with the usual adult eggnog we’re used to drinking, you’ll mix dark rum, apple brandy, whole milk, heavy cream, simple syrup, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon with a quarter-cup of Hellmann’s mayonnaise per three-serving batch. Toss it all into a blender and blend until smooth.
I’ll admit that the pictures of the frozen concoction look good. And I’m not above trying the recipe! The only place to try this is Mudding Memories in New York where Goldstein works. Or you can whip it up at home! Check out the recipe below.
