Reese’s And Hershey’s Releasing Plant Based Candy
If you’re vegan or just someone who is trying to add more plant-based foods into your diet, you won’t have to wait long for some plant-based candy. Reese’s and Hershey’s are both releasing vegan candy soon.
According to Food Beast, plant-based Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and plant-based Hershey’s Almond and Sea Salt Bars are hitting stores within the next few months. The chocolate in both of the new candies are made with oats instead of milk. The new products will be the first sold in the U.S. under the ‘Plant Based’ label.
Hershey’s says consumers want choices and are looking for products they consider healthier or with fewer ingredients. Folks are looking for products with reduced sugar and plant-based options are popular right now. Although I don’t eat a lot of candy, I’ll admit that I’ve tried to cut down on my meat consumption recently. Mostly because I’m trying to be a bit healthier.
Usually, products like these are released in the U.K. before hitting the U.S. Nestle has sold its KitKat V, a vegan bar, in Europe since 2021. Cadbury also sells a vegan chocolate bar in the U.K. With an increase of plant-based foods in the U.S., Hershey’s believes the new candies will be popular.
Of course, like most plant-based items, the new candies will cost a bit more. The new Reese’s Cups and Hershey’s bar will cost around a $1 more. Start looking for the plant-based Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as they’re being released this month. The plant-based Hershey’s Almond and Sea Salt Bars are set to be released in April.
