Oscar Mayer Is Selling Hot Dog Straws And I Don’t Know Why

Not sure why this is a thing at the end of summer, but it is. Heck, I’m not sure why this is a thing at all! The folks at Oscar Mayer are selling something that no one asked for but I’m sure someone will get: hot dog straws. According to Mashed, the company now has hot dog straws.

Now, it’s not what I originally thought it would be. I thought it was an actual hot dog with holes on both ends so it could be used as a straw. In 2022, Phil and I talked about a guy at a baseball game in New York that went viral for drinking his beer out of a hot dog that he made into a straw. Nasty! There are so many things wrong with this I don’t have time to list them all! LOL!

Reading more about the straw, it seems Oscar Mayer got the inspiration for their new straw from the guy in New York that went viral last year. I’m sure he’s excited but I’m wondering if I should send him a mean email. Thanks dude!

The Oscar Mayer Hot Dog Straw isn’t an actual hot dog. The company used their famous hot dogs as a muse. The straw is the same size and color of a cooked Oscar Mayer Hot Dog. It’s made from ‘food safe soft silicone’ to replicate the feel of a real hot dog. Once again, nasty!

Don’t get me wrong! I love eating a tasty hot dog once in a while. And I love kicking back a drink with a straw. However, I’ve never wanted to combine the two.  Of course, I’m sure folks all over the country will still want one of these straws for football season. Today is National Hot Dog Day! The hot dog is considered by many the classic, All-American meal.

And the ways to make a hot dog vary. For example, some like me,  prefer hot dogs grilled or toasted over a fire. They can be boiled, pan-fried, and even cooked in a rotisserie.
