North Carolina Social Media Star Tops Forbes Top Creators List

ISTANBUL, TURKEY - MARCH 23: The YouTube and Netflix app logos are seen on a television screen on March 23, 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey. The Government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan passed a new law on March 22 extending the reach of the country's radio and TV censor to the internet. The new law will allow RTUK, the states media watchdog, to monitor online broadcasts and block content of social media sites and streaming services including Netflix and YouTube. Turkey already bans many websites including Wikipedia, which has been blocked for more than a year. The move came a day after private media company Dogan Media Company announced it would sell to pro-government conglomerate Demiroren Holding AS. The Dogan news group was the only remaining news outlet not to be under government control, the sale, which includes assets in CNN Turk and Hurriyet Newspaper completes the governments control of the Turkish media.

It truly is a social media phenomenon. If you had told people even 10 years ago that people would be getting rich and making careers off of social media, many wouldn't have believed you. But between apps like TikTok and Instagram as well as YouTube being and "influencer" or "creator" is one of the most lucrative jobs out there. It's actually a little sickening just how much money some of these people are bringing in. I could go off on a tangent about some of my opinions on this. Some are probably popular opinions others might be a little controversial but I'll spare you that for another day. Forbes just released their top creators list and sitting at number one is a North Carolina social media star.

Mr. Beast

You may have heard of Mr. Beast or Jimmy Donaldson as he is legally named. His 312 million followers have led to earnings surpassing $82 million. His YouTube videos consist of high-production videos and stunts like taking a giant shredder to a Lamborghini. While this type of content doesn't appeal to me personally clearly millions upon millions of people are fascinated by his stunts. And while they are expensive to pull off and produce, the return on his investment is clearly there.

The Money isn't just in  the ad revenue from his hundreds of videos. Mr. Beast also has a brand of snack bars, a restaurant chain, and merch bringing in the benjamins. Every day I ask myself where did I go wrong? Other creators on this Forbes list include Jake Paul, Charli D’Amelio, Emma Chamberlain, and Alex Cooper. According to Forbes, these individuals and the rest of the top 50 list are "reshaping the worlds of media, marketing, entertainment, and taste." Check out the full Forbes top 50 list which includes other North Carolina social media personalities as well, here.

And I am officially doing the wrong thing with my life. Yes, I post occasionally on TikTok but I've yet to make a penny off of that. But if you're doing it correctly, you can be making a pretty penny. And one of the most popular types of accounts on the social media platform? Dogs. There are tons of dog influencers on TikTok and many of them are quite successful. The hashtag "dog" has a whopping 413.8 billion views with #dogsofTikTok and #dogs each having well over 100 billion views as well. That's a billion with b. But more important in the world of influencers than views is engagement rates (likes, comments, shares, etc) which these canines are also racking up.

Our friends at Printed Pet Memories conducted a study on the most financially successful dog influencers on TikTok. And yeah, I'm in the completely wrong career field. These dogs are racking up what I make in a week in one post. To come up with these dollar amounts Printed Pet Memories used an Influencer Marketing Calculator (didn't know that existed) to figure out what they can earn per sponsored TikTok post. Anyone have a dog I can borrow? Keep reading to see who the most successful dog influencers are, a cute video of them, as well as what they can bring in per post.
