If You Loved 80’s TV, This Lifetime Holiday Film Will Make You Happy
As a kid growing up in the 1970’s and 1980’s, I watched a lot of television. My dad used to call me the ‘walking TV Guide’. I always wanted to act and entertain, even as a young kid. If you are a Gen X’er too, you’re going to be thrilled about this news! There are some serious 80’s television female icons that will be starring in a Lifetime movie for the holidays.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lifetime is riding the wave of nostalgia this Christmas. A holiday film starring Loni Anderson, Morgan Fairchild, Linda Gray, Donna Mills and Nicollette Sheridan is set as part of their ‘It’s a Wonderful Lifetime Christmas’ lineup. To get all of these amazing 80’s ladies together is unreal! Especially since a few of them haven’t been see in sometime.
The movie is called ‘Ladies of the 80’s: A Divas Christmas.’ The plot is centering around the actresses playing soap opera stars having a reunion. The women come up with a plan to match their director and producer, hoping for a love connection. Spoiler alert; their plan works.
Holiday Happy Films Are Big
Christmas love stories aren’t my thing. My mom and lots of my friends love the Lifetime and Hallmark Channel’s holiday flicks but I’m not into them. That said, I may have to watch this one just because of the star power!
Ladies of the ’80s filmed earlier in 2023. The stars have real life soap opera credentials. Fairchild starred on the nighttime soap Falcon Crest. Likewise, Gray starred on Dallas. Mills starred on Knots Landing, Love Is a Many Splendored Thing and General Hospital. Sheridan was also on Knots and later on Desperate Housewives.
Anderson’s big show was the comedy WKRP in Cincinnati. As a radio personality, I watched that show lots when I was younger. Oddly enough, I never thought about radio as a career. TV yes, but not radio. Funny how things work out.
There’s no exact release date as of yet, but the movie will be coming out this year. Just looking at the picture below takes me back to the old school 80’s TV drama. These women are the OG’s and it’s cool to see them together.
