Costco Viral Sandwich Made With Three Food Court Staples Is Way Too Much

Food mashups are an interesting way to taste an array of flavors. Phil and I have tried quite a few. But sometimes folks just go overboard, and this is one of those times! A Costco sandwich mashup is going viral on TikTok and it’s just way too much! I thought I had too much time on my hands! These folks definitely do.
According to Eat This, Not That, some Costco food court fans have come up with a new sandwich, and it’s going viral. Now you KNOW I love a good sandwich, but this looks nasty. The sandwich is combining three food court favorites. The sandwich is called the ‘Jochizza’ and it’s not an official offering at the store. The mashup seems to be created by TikToker @soyelarturito, but @eatitkatie is also getting lots of views with it as well.
So What Is The ‘Jochizza’?
The ‘Jochizza’ is quite the combination of things. First, you slice open a Costco Chicken Bake lengthwise, to make a bun. A hot dog is then stuffed into the ‘bun’, and then a layer of cheese off of a pizza slice is placed on top. UGH! @eatitkatie also is adding diced onions, ketchup, mustard, and relish to hers. Double UGH!
Oddly, many folks on TikTok are commenting that it looks great! Some folks are saying that this is the best of the best of the Costco menu. Personally, my acid reflux is flaring up just looking at the video of this monstrosity. Even if I didn’t have acid reflux, it’s still too damn much all at once!
If you have a Costco membership, you can obviously give this ‘food hack’ a try. My advice would be to have some TUMS or Pepto Bismol close by before eating this combo. Especially if you’re over the age of 40! It’s all fun and games for these younger TikTok stars til they are dealing with an ulcer! LOL!
Surprising New Poll Says This Is North Carolina's Favorite Junk Food
What’s North Carolina’s favorite junk food? A new poll from Casinos.com has a surprising answer. We’re talking about National Junk Food Day! They released a state-wide junk food poll on July 21st. Why? Because it’s National Junk Food Day! It only happens once a year and it’s a day worth celebrating for sure! If there was ever a day to leave the salad in the fridge and treat yourself to some fat, sugar, salt, carbs, and calories, this is it. In honor of this food holiday, a new report reveals Americans’ favorite junk foods.
For research purposes, they left out fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s and KFC. Fast food places are worthy of their own nationally celebrated day (National Fast Food Day, November 16). Likewise, they didn’t include drinks or sodas, and basically, anything you can consider healthy.
The Website site used Google Trends to measure interest in 32 of the nation’s favorite junk food/snacks.
Fast food restaurants were excluded as I said earlier. This study instead refers to snacks available to purchase in stores. Sodas and chewing gum were also excluded.
I was shocked to find out what North Carolina’s was. South Carolina too!
This very important data was collected over a 12-month period from July 17, 2022 – July 16, 2023.
In the case where a state had equal levels of interest for multiple snacks, search volumes for each item using “Semrush” were measured in that area to determine a favorite.
My all-time favorite junk food is pretzels. Any kind of pretzels. Rods, sticks, chocolate covered, honey wheat, burnt and hot soft ones! I love me some pretzels! I’m also a sucker for Gold Fish crackers and Peanut M&M’s.
LauRen my co-host has her favs too. She said on the air the other day she loves Twizzlers, Pringles and assorted nuts. (BTW I said nuts is not junk food).
Casinos.com analyzed Google Trends and search data for the last year to determine what the most popular junk foods are in each state:
Melany Myers is a Gastonia native and has spent most of her life here in North Carolina. Mel has worked in radio for over 20 years, many of which she spent co-hosting morning shows in Charlotte, NC, and Columbia, SC. Mel loves 80’s music, going to concerts, cooking, and eating! She is always writing about random news stories that really make you wonder, “what in the world?!” She also writes about rock music and human-interest content.
