We all know the cost of groceries has gone up considerably over the last year. Some products are more expensive than others, but I think most of us are spending more at the grocery store now than last year. Some stores are a bit less expensive than others, but overall we are all spending more. A chef on TikTok is sharing a great way to try and save funds.
Chef Will Coleman is sharing his 6 to 1 grocery shopping method on TikTok, and I’ll tell ya, it makes sense. This can also help you simplify your shopping, in addition to reducing food waste. The premise behind the technique is simple and after reading about it, it may even help you with weight loss and eating healthier.
According to Apartment Therapy, this simple idea can eliminate the need for a huge shopping list. That said, the idea is flexible.
How Does ‘6 To 1’ Work
I’m one of those ‘list’ people. If I go to the grocery store, it’s rare that I get something that’s not on my list. Of course, we all have weak moments! There are times that I’ll walk into a store, Publix for example, and smell the fresh baked bread in their bakery. The smell always leads me to buy some! But using the ‘6 to 1’ may stop the impulse buys.
Coleman is sharing in his TikTok video how the concept works: you get six veggies, five fruits, four proteins, three starches, two sauces or spreads, and one fun thing for yourself. SMART! Not only does this concept help you save money, but it also makes sure you’re eating more veggies and fruits.
At the moment, I’m on some steroids for knee inflammation, so I am eating EVERYTHING and too much of it! I’m going on a cruise in March and would really like to lose a few pounds. I think I may try this concept this weekend when I go grocery shopping. I love veggies and fruit so I’m all about this. And I’m all about saving money too!
