Two Awesome ’80s Concert Tours Are Taking America By Storm In 2024
Whenever you ask someone which was the best decade for music, inevitably they’ll point to the decade during which they were teenagers. If you went to high school in the 1970s, chances are you like the music of that decade over any other. Most of my teen years were in the 1980s so I’m pretty stoked about a couple of “rad” ’80s concert tours happening this spring and summer. One of them will be coming to North Carolina.
Abducted by the ’80s Tour
First up is the Abducted by the ’80s Tour. Wang Chung, Men Without Hats, The Motels, Animotion, and Naked Eyes are going out on the road to take us back to the new wave formative years of MTV. The tour will start on May 17th in Kyle, Texas and will close on June 23rd in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. More dates may be added. Different artists will be playing on different dates and VIP meet-and-greets are available for many shows. You can get more details on the official Abducted by the ’80s website.
Totally Tubular Festival
Immediately following that tour, the neon-drenched party continues with the Totally Tubular Festival. Men Without Hats are still on board and they’ll be joined by Thomas Dolby, Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, Modern English, The Romantics, Bow Wow Wow, Tommy Tutone, and The Plimsouls. The coast-to-coast trek begins June 25th in Seattle and wraps up July 28th in Cleveland. There’s even a stop at Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh on July 13th.
