Charlotte Douglas Airport Lands On A List No One Wants To Be On
The summer travel season is about to kick into high gear. And, Charlotte Douglas Airport has landed on a list no one wants to be on.
Which List Is Charlotte Douglas Airport On?
According to a story from Tampa’s Fox 13 News, travel claims management agency AirHelp says Charlotte Douglas Airport is one of the worst airports to fly out of as of May 2024.
The company collected data from airports that handled the most and least flight disruptions in May.
Also, the study was looking at airports with over 100,000 flights for the month leading up to the busy travel season. And, Charlotte Douglas Airport came in at number 3 behind Dallas Fort Worth International and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airports.
In comparing numbers for the worst 3 on the list, Charlotte Douglas Airport had 37.8% of flights disrupted. DFW had 45.6% of flights disrupted, while Houston Intercontinental had 40.6% of flights disrupted.
Where’s The Best U.S. Airport?
And, in case you’re wondering if AirHelp had any good news, they did publish the Best U.S. Airports to fly out of, too. And, the number one spot belongs to Salt Lake City.
Although we don’t fly terribly often, we have had the chance to travel from Charlotte Douglas Airport a handful of times recently both domestically and internationally.
And, we’ve been lucky enough to have mostly positive experiences. I have a touch of anxiety when it comes to going through TSA because no matter how many times I fly it seems the procedures change every time.
Different airports require different things. Shoes on, shoes off, extras in different bins or the same bin, laptops and phones out or in. And, no matter how fast I’m moving I feel like the folks, especially at Charlotte, seem to always be barking at me. LOL.
I get it though. It’s a high stress, demanding job they have. And, we’re all just trying to get the task done.
And, we have friends who have access to all the perks. So, we accompanied them recently and had the privilege of hanging out in the Admiral’s Club before our flight. The lounge at Charlotte Douglas Airport is one of the best in the country.
Also, my husband’s old college buddy flies for UPS, and gave us a behind the scenes tour last year when he had a flight out of Charlotte. It was a cool experience!
Anyway, now you know the stats before you take off on your next excursion this summer! See here for the full list of best and worst airports.
