Samuel L. Jackson Will Star as Nick Fury in Disney+ Series
Bridging the MCU
Most recently, both he and Maria Hill were the bridge between the Sony-owned Spider-Man films and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He even had one guest appearance of ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD where he handed the mantle of Director off to Agent Coulson. But, Fury has always been destined for something greater. The last we saw of Jackson’s Agent Fury was at the end Spider-Man: Homecoming. In the post-credits scene, it was revealed the Fury and Hill we had been watching were actually Skrulls. One of them then calls the real director Fury, who appears to be on some kind of battleship somewhere in space.A Long Way Off
It’s entirely possible that could still just be a set-up for whatever comes next in the cosmic side of the MCU. Or, it could be the start of a Nick Fury centered space epic all his own. The announcement marks the 9th Marvel series for Disney+. With WandaVision coming out sometime this year and Falcon and the Winter Soldier slated for 2021, it’ll be a moment before we get anything concrete. We still haven’t heard anything new about the other series such as Hawkeye, Loki, Ms. Marvel, or Moon Knight. For more comic books news check out of our podcast The Other Identity!
