Woman Wants Freebies After Baker’s Dog Ruins Gender Reveal
Gender reveal parties are still all the rage with couples going to extreme lengths to share the sex of their unborn baby. We’ve heard of fireworks causing fires, people hurting themselves, and other wild stories. This one is a bit different. A woman has posted on Reddit, wondering if she’s in the wrong for wanting free baked goods after a baker’s dog ruined her gender reveal.
According to Cheezburger, a woman found out her first child is going to be a girl and wanted to have a gender reveal for her family over Easter weekend. The young mom-to-be went to a local bake shop in her town and ordered cupcakes. She wanted 12 cupcakes with blue and pink icing on top, and pink icing in the middle. Not an outrageous order. The baker, Claire, said the cupcakes would be ready for pickup Friday evening of Easter weekend.
When the woman went to pick the cupcakes up from the baker’s apartment, the woman’s large dog jumped on her, knocking the cupcake box out of her hand. The baker explained that the dog is harmless, just gets excited when new people come over. The mom-to-be picked up the cupcake box and realized that they were ruined. There was pink icing all over the box and the cupcakes were smashed.
The baker apologized and offered to re-make the cupcakes but said they wouldn’t be ready until Sunday. The woman tells the baker that won’t work and lets the baker know she would not be paying for the ruined cupcakes. Makes sense to me!
Because she spent money for all the ingredients, the baker told the woman that she should pay her. The woman explained that it was her dog that ruined the cupcakes and that she’d have to take the loss. The woman is asking folks on Reddit if she’s in the wrong. She feels a little guilty about not paying because the baker is a small business owner.
Folks on Reddit agree that the mom-to-be shouldn’t pay nor should she feel guilty. I understand where she’s coming from, but the baker is at fault for not controlling her dog. It sucks that the baker is out some cash, but lesson learned! Moving forward, she should always have her dog in check before someone arrives to pick up product. Sometimes learning lessons is hard!
Even without the cupcakes, I’m sure her friends and family are excited! And the baker now knows to put the dog up next time a client comes to pick up goods.
