Ohio Rollercoaster Gets Stuck And Riders Walked A Scary 200 Feet Down It

Rollercoasters have never been my favorite ride. There were a few I’d ride as a kid, but the massive ones that go upside down have always scared me. Lately there have been lots of stories in the news about rollercoasters malfunctioning or not working properly. Locally, Carowinds has been dealing with some structural issues with their Fury 325. A huge crack was found a few weeks ago, and now there’s another issue that’s been found. Scary! A rollercoaster in Ohio is now having issues and it’s beyond frightening.
According to CBS News, riders on one of the fastest and steepest coasters in the world got stuck. While riding the Magnum XL 200 in Ohio, a mechanical issue caused the coaster to stop on one of the inclines. Riders can be seen walking down the 205-foot coaster’s stairs to get to the ground. Just seeing a still photo of the riders walking makes me ill.
The park’s director said that it was a standard ride stoppage but they weren’t able to restart the ride which is what caused the riders to have to walk back down. The Magnum XL is in the Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio. The park is one of the oldest in the country, and the rollercoaster has been around since 1989. The ride only lasts 2 minutes and 45 seconds, but goes up to 72 mph.
Watching the riders walking down the 205-foot rollercoaster stairs is making my hands sweaty. Although some types of anxiety can be healthy for you, this ain’t one of them! Hopefully, Cedar Point is giving the folks that were riding the rollercoaster some free passes to the park for the ruckus. If I was on that thing, they’d also be giving me a free change of clothes!
North Carolina Proud: A-List Carowinds Attraction One Of Top 5 Coasters In The Country
Rollercoasters. You either love or hate them. Put me in the love category. Though I have to say I’m not one that has to be on the tallest, fastest, or other record-breaking rides. I’ll go on them sure, but some of my favorites are sufficiently average. And that’s ok! But if coaster thrills are your favorite then you’re certainly glad Cedar Fair took over at Carowinds. Since purchasing the park in 2006 they have invested heavily in it adding many attractions. This includes several new roller coasters- Intimidator, Fury 325, and Copperhead Strike. This makes perfect sense as Cedar Fair’s original park Cedar Point in Ohio is known for having some of the best coasters in the world. And now, so is Carowinds. A list by BlooLoop has the author, a self-described aficionado, ranking his 10 favorite roller coasters. And one of Carowinds premiere attractions was in the top 5 coasters in the country.
Having a ride of this notoriety takes Carowinds from a destination for local North and South Carolina residents and puts it on the map for thrill lovers from around the world. This list includes coasters from across the country, of course, Cedar Point is home to two of the rides. I’d actually say what the author ranks as number 10 is one of, if not my favorite, rides I’ve ever been on. Keep reading to see where the Carowinds ride ranked in the top coasters in the country. And check out a POV video of each one as well. Would you ride them? I’ll ride anything at least once so I’d love to check out the ones I haven’t had a chance to try!
