Student At Butler High Describes The Terrifying Shooting Scene Through Texts
Earlier, we reported that a student had been shot at Butler High School in Matthews this morning.
The school is now secure and Matthews Police have taken the shooter into custody.
One student was injured during the ordeal and was transported to a nearby hospital.
At this time, the condition of the student is not known.
As worried parents lined up outside the school for word on when they could see their children, one mother shared text messages she received from her child who was inside the school during the shooting.
The texts describe the terrifying realization that a shooter is in the building.
The student told their mother that they were hiding in another classroom and could hear gunshots as they begged for their mom to respond.
The mother arrived at the school a short time later.
