Dog-obsessed is more accurate. Let's face it, we spoil our fur babies rotten. The mere fact that we refer to them as "fur babies" is a good indication of that. A study just released by Zillow and BARK looks into which U.S. cities are the most pet-friendly.
Real estate site Zillow used the number of pet-friendly rental listings in the biggest U.S. cities by population to help come up with the ranking. BARK, known for its BarkBox pet supply delivery service, looked at more than a dozen years of its subscription data to determine the most popular dog breeds and dog names in each city.
Pet-friendly rentals are in high-demand, as 59% of renters have at least one pet and 40% have a dog, according to the Zillow data. They’ve found twice as many renters filter for pet-friendly listings on their site than any other amenity. While 55% of rental listings on Zillow advertise being pet-friendly, some cities have many more available.
The Lone Star State might as well be called the "Bone Star State." The top three cities on the list are all in Texas. Dallas leads the pack with its share of pet-friendly rental proprties at 79-percent, followed closely by Austin (77%) and San Antonio (75%). All three eclipse the national average of 55-percent. But so does Charlotte, North Carolina.
Charlotte is actually tied with San Antonio and its 75-percent share of pet-friendly rentals. Furthermore, the date from BARK reveals that the Queen City's most popular breeds are Golden retriever and Labrador retriever, while the most popular dog names are Bailey and Bella.
