Student Dies After Being Shot At Butler High
Update at 10:35 a.m.: The student who was shot this morning at Butler High School has died from their injuries.

They have confirmed it started as a fight between two students. Other student is in custody.

This morning, a student was shot at Butler High School in Matthews.
After reports of the shooting surfaced online, local authorities assured the public that the shooter was in custody and the scene was secure.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
At this time, it is not clear if the victim is a male or female, but they are listed in critical condition and are currently undergoing surgery.

The victim is currently in critical condition receiving treatment at the hospital. The school is currently releasing students to waiting parents. This is still an ongoing investigation.
As news of the shooting quickly spread online, concerned parents broke through the police barricades and charged at the school after growing angry they could not see their children.

Police are now letting parents pick up students at the entrance of the school.
