Take A Day Trip To Drink Wine and Pet Llamas
Did you know there is a llama winery just 90 minutes from Charlotte?
Yes, you read that correctly. You can take a day trip to drink wine and pet llamas. Divine Llama Vineyards in East Bend, NC is just a quick drive up 77 and a few back roads. My friends and I are always looking for unique and fun things to do so we took a day trip there this past Sunday afternoon and it was such a fun experience!
Admission is free to walk around and there are plenty of shaded tables as well. When we were there they had a taco food truck, but you are able to bring your own food as well.
For just $10 you can taste 7 of their 10 wines. The tasting includes 3 whites, 3 reds, and a rose. My personal favorite was the Chardonell a light white wine, closely followed by the Merlina (named after one of the llamas!), which is a red similar to a Merlot. They also have three other wines that are available by the bottle only. The tasting includes a souvenir wine glass as well.
After the tasting, we all grabbed a glass of wine (all are just $7) and enjoyed sipping and snacking next to the vineyard before taking the short walk down, wine in tow, to the barn to see the llamas. There were several llamas, it was hot when we were there so most were congregated in the barn, but a few were out eating hay. There were also mini horses and donkeys on the farm.
Guests also have the option to participate in “llama treks”, these 2-hour hike’s require advacned reservations but typically happen Saturdays and Sundays and are $50 per person.
