The Spaghetti Hack That’s Breaking The Internet
I’ve never seen this before, and when I watched this video today I said, “NOPE”. And I’m not the only one that’s not a fan of this idea. Just looks so wrong!
A woman’s countertop pasta “hack” is now viral with more than 24 million views and over 11 thousand people have commented on it. And many of those comments aren’t positive.
The clip titled “Ultimate Spaghetti Trick” was shared in April by a user named Lisa who is an “authority” on hacks. Don’t even get me started with THAT! The whole life hack thing makes me crazy.
So here’s what Lisa does: she pours two jars of pasta sauce on her kitchen counter, adds meatballs, and then places cooked spaghetti behind the sauce. Again, all spread out on her kitchen counter. WTH? Lisa then places bags of salad behind the line of pasta, and she claims this is the “easiest way to make spaghetti for a crowd”. By the way, Lisa says she’s a “real Italian” and that this is “family style”.
First off, I don’t know any Italians that use jar sauce. Second off, a salad is a packet of store bought lettuce thrown on a counter? And cold, untoasted bread? Come on. Noooooo! I’ve cooked spaghetti and homemade meatballs for a large crowd a few times, and never did I do it like this.
Now, I’m not Italian, but I know many Italian families. I even dated an Italian years ago who lives in Venice. Never have I seen this happen. Guests eating straight off someone’s kitchen counter? Ugh! This is something I’ve never seen before and it does not look appetizing.
The outrage has been most ferocious among the Italian online community, with comments ranging from “as an Italian I shudder” and “never in my life” to “very offensive”. LOL! Very few folks think this is a good idea.
