Mel’s Moment Of Zen: Watch An Octopus Get Bigger & Bigger
Before you enjoy your weekend filled with friends, family, and fireworks, take a moment to watch something peaceful. Scary, but totally mesmerizing!
A southern keeled octopus propelled itself across the ocean floor near Port Phillip Bay in Victoria while a lucky diver hovered above the creature and documented its movement. Photographer Jules Casey captured the footage and uploaded the video to her Instagram account. She couldn’t believe how huge the octopus made itself look and said it’s the biggest she’s ever seen.
According to the Australian Museum, this type of octopus has an “armspan” of 50 cm. Casey posts other footage on her Instagram page of interesting marine life. Her pictures and videos are beyond cool!
The ocean is amazing! It’s peaceful and beautiful but also frightening and so vast. The beach is my favorite stress reliever and I love hearing the waves crash onto the shore. But it’s totally amazing to see all the creatures that inhabit the water….from a distance. No way would I ever be one of the folks that dives into the water’s depth. I do love watching sea animals and mammals on video though. They’re so calming to watch.
