Woman Sues McDonald’s, Says Ad For Food Made Her Break “Lent” Fast
I’m telling ya, people will try and sue for the most insane reasons. I will never understand how some people decide that someone else is to blame for their actions. Case in point, this woman suing McDonald’s, saying a commercial made her break her fast during Lent.
Ksenia Ovchinnikova has filed a lawsuit against McDonald’s after seeing an advertising banner that looked too good to refuse. According to legal documents, the Russian woman is seeking $14 from the restaurant for “breaching consumer protection law” and “insulting her religious feelings.” She says she couldn’t resist the mouthwatering ad for a cheeseburger.
The unhappy meal reportedly occurred in April 2019, while Ovchinnikova was observing Lent, a strict period in which devout Christians are expected to forgo meat, meat by-products, poultry, eggs, and dairy.
Ovchinnikova says she had observed Lent for a month. She gave up meat, and hadn’t eaten any in a month. Then, she saw an enticing McDonald’s banner advertising a cheeseburger and chicken nuggets. She says she couldn’t resist, and went to McDonald’s and bought a cheeseburger.
However, the cheat meal apparently didn’t sit well with Ovchinnikova, which is why she is suing, according to the Daily Mail.
As of right now, the courts haven’t decided on whether to proceed with her case. I’m hoping the court throws her case out of court. I mean, hello?! What happened to being responsible for your own actions. You can’t blame a company for something YOU decided to do! Crazy! We’ve all seen a commercial that makes us hungry, THAT is the point of the commercial! LOL!
The woman decided to give up meat for 40 days, but said McDonald's marketing simply made this impossible 🍔 https://t.co/LdT3ndT4tC
