‘Meth Gator’ Movie Coming This Summer
We should have expected it, although I’ll admit I didn’t see this one coming. The movie ‘Cocaine Bear’ hit theaters this past weekend and earned $23 million its opening weekend. Sequels to the movie are already being planned. But before they hit, a movie about an alligator in Florida jacked up on meth is coming this summer.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the production company The Asylum announced on Twitter that this summer they’re releasing ‘Attack of the Meth Gator’. Yup. The production company specializes in ‘mockbuster’ films. Their claim to fame is the Sharknado franchise, so that gives you an idea on how this movie will roll.
There isn’t a lot of details about the upcoming film. According to The Asylum’s tweet, the movie will be set in Florida. My guess is some drug lords lose a huge stash of meth and the gator ingests it, becoming extremely aggressive, and then goes on a killing spree.
The story of ‘Cocaine Bear’ was based on true events. The film is based on the strange 1985 true story of a 175-pound black bear that consumed a significant amount of cocaine left in a Georgia forest. Since ‘Attack of the Meth Gator’ is set in Florida, I guess the premise isn’t that far-fetched. LOL!
No word on when this new drug-fueled animal movie will hit and there’s no word on where we’ll be able to see it. All of the ‘Sharknado’ movies were on the SyFy Network so maybe this film will debut there. Like the Sharknado films, I’m sure this film will develop a cult following quickly.
Hold our bear… I mean, beer.
