The ‘Love Boat’ Cruise Setting Sail Later This Year, Nostalgia Included

As a kid, my parents called me the ‘walking TV Guide.’ In the 70’s and 80’s, I could tell you what show was on at what time, and on what channel. For a long time, acting was what I wanted to do. I had dreams of being on television. One of the shows I always wanted to be on was ‘Love Boat.’ If you’re a Gen X’er, just hearing the name of the show makes you start singing the theme song! If I’m not mistaken, the show aired on ABC on Saturday nights at 9 p.m.

If you were a fan of Doc, Gopher, Julie and the gang, you can set sail with them later this year. Princess Cruises, known for their role on the show, is unveiling a second themed cruise. Now, I’m not sure how I missed the info on the first one, but I’m all about this one! You can do some sailing with Doc, Gopher, and Isaac from New York to Canada and New England aboard the Enchanted Princess. The cruise is happening August 31-September 7, 2024, according to MSN.

The first cruise was extremely popular, which is understandable. Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, most of us were big fans of the show. And I’m betting lots of us always wanted to be on the show. Sailing around with such characters and special famous guests was always appealing to me. One of my favorite guests on the show was Charo. She was always so flamboyant and cheerful!

All Aboard, They’re Expecting You

On the cruise, actress Jill Whelan, who played Vicki Stubing will be joining Bernie Kopell, who played Doc, Fred Grandy, who played Gopher and Ted Lange who played Isaac. Loved Isaac! Of course, on the cruise you’ll be able to take part in numerous ‘Love Boat’ themed activities. Just a few are meet-and-greet photo events, ‘Love Boat’ trivia, Q&A sessions, and more.
This event will be giving you nostalgia at its finest! I’ll be honest, this looks like a blast! If you’re like me and really loved the show, you can opt for a special ‘Love Boat VIP Package’ featuring an invite to an exclusive cast cocktail party, dinner at the Captain’s Table and more. As of right now, pricing for the VIP experience isn’t available, but will be coming out later this year.
Pricing starts at $568 per person based on double occupancy, according to the cruise line’s website. Keep checking for more info on the trip! If you want to go, I’d book sooner than later as it’s sure to sell out quickly!

Time To Book Your Trip, South Carolina Is Home To Two Resorts Complete With Swim Up Bars

There is nothing more I want in the world right now (well other than my college football team to go undefeated and to somehow come up with enough money I don’t have to stress and only have to work for fun), than to be sitting at a swim-up bar somewhere drinking a frozen cocktail. I’d start off with a Miami Vice because it’s the best of both worlds with strawberry and coconut. And then switch over to something with tequila. This isn’t a want, it’s a need. And honestly, when I think of a swim up bar I think of somewhere in the Caribbean. Which is goals. But that’s expensive and a time investment I can’t afford right now. So I started to wonder where the closest swim up bar is. And turns out there are two South Carolina resorts that have swim up bars.

I’ll be honest I’m not usually clamouring to visit Myrtle Beach. It’s fine, but somewhere I’ve been numerous times in my life thanks to dance competitions, family vacations, music festivals, and friends having vacations homes there. And listen, when it’s a free place to stay I’m all about it. But needless to say I’m not often looking for hotels in what is often known as the “dirty Myrtle”. But that means I’ve been overlooking two fantastic resorts with that swim up bar lifestyle I’m so desperately craving. There are also several other hotels in the US that have swim up bars as well. Surprisingly my research didn’t lead me to Florida. Though I’m sure a deep dive might turn up at least one in the sunshine state. If not anyone want to be the investor that helps make that happen? I’ll do the marketing!

Below you’ll find info on the two South Carolina resorts with those oh so coveted swim up bars. You’ll also see some of the other tempting swim up bars around the country that are now on my bucket list to visit. And some are in some unexpected locations for sure. All look like incredible resorts I’d be grateful to experience at some point in my lifetime. Any physic want to float me some lottery numbers? I’ll get you a room too!
