Deadly Mosquito-Borne Virus Hits North Carolina
Health authorities have warned residents os numerous states including North Carolina to protect themselves against bites from mosquitoes that can transmit a rare virus. The disease, called Eastern equine encephalitis, has had cases in North Carolina.
The virus is found in the northeast and short-named (EEE) giving people flu-like symptoms when they become infected. In some cases, encephalitis has occurred causing deaths. Seven states have reported cases of EEE so far this year.
