As an avid college football fan, who watches my fair share of bowl games, I have to commend the team behind the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. When I first heard the name, after Belk pulled out a few years ago my first reaction was WTF? Mayo? But their marketing team killed it! The Charlotte Bowl game has always had a fantastic Twitter account, but as the Mayo Bowl they are top tier. This year’s match-up featured a battle of the Carolinas with the Carolina Tar Heels representing the ACC and the South Carolina Gamecocks representing the SEC. The Gamecocks got out to an early 18 nothing lead (yes they went for 2 on their second touchdown) and never looked back. Coach Shane Beamer got a bowl win, a winning season, and a sure-to-be Duke’s Mayo Bowl tradition the mayo bath. He was a good sport about it and in return will get a $10,000 donation made to a charity of his choice.

If you missed it check out our recap of some of the best moments of the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and of course that mayo bath!
