Zoo Tries To Pass Off Donkey As Zebra
This sounds like a plan hatched by the Three Stooges. A student visiting a zoo in Cairo, Egypt noticed something strange about the zebra on display. It wasn’t a zebra at all. It was actually a donkey painted to look like a zebra.
Mahmoud A. Sarhani took a picture of the questionable-looking “zebra” he saw while visiting the International Gardens Park Zoo and posted the photo on Facebook, which quickly went viral in Egypt. The Cairo media caught wind of it and covered the story. The zoo’s director vehemently maintains that the animal is 100% zebra, despite the fact that local veterinarians have confirmed the animal really is a donkey with black-and-white stripes painted onto it.
Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time this sort of thing has happened. A zoo in Gaza painted two donkeys to replace two deceased zebras back in 2009. We’re on to you, zoos!
