Travel Back In Time To A ‘Victorian Christmas’
What would Christmas be without elaborates light displays and giant inflatables? The holiday season definitely looked different in Victorian times. Think Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol different.
Historic Latta Plantation is presenting Victorian Christmas on Friday, November 23rd and Saturday, November 24th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It’s a chance to travel back in time and experience holiday traditions of the 1860’s, including open hearth cooking, 19th Century decorations, Victorian carolers, and a slightly different kind of Black Friday shopping.
Kids will have fun making Christmas crafts, toasting s’mores around the bonfire, and taking photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Mom and Dad might be more interested in the complimentary Brown-Forman Whiskey tasting on Friday. And everyone will love Ole Buddy’s BBQ, Anna’s Sweet Treats, and free samples of Mrs. Latta’s original ginger cake recipe.
You can check a few names off your Christmas list at Latta Plantation, too! The local artisan market will have gifts that you won’t find at the mall, including art, photography, jewelry, pottery, ironwork, soap, quilts, stained glass, beeswax candles, and honey.
