New College Graduates Have Better Job Prospects
If you have a child gradating from college this spring and they want to move back home, it might actually be a good thing. Charlotte is one of the top ten cities in the U.S. where recent college graduates are most likely to be hired, but job prospects for new grads look good all over the country.
A new Robert Hall poll of senior managers finds that 83% say they are likely to hire recent college graduates, with 41% saying they’re very likely to do so. Why are they so eager to give young adults a chance? Roughly 35% of the managers say they’ll hire new college grads because of their enthusiasm, while 28% like their fresh perspectives and ideas. Other reasons include ease of training (18%) and strong technical/digital skills (16%).
I’m guessing that companies are also drawn to recent graduates because they don’t cost as much as more seasoned employees. Regardless of the reasons, it’s just good that more people are getting opportunities to work.
