Apple Announces the End of iTunes
iTunes, Apple’s primary software for consuming music and other media for nearly two decades, will officially be discontinued.
Per Bloomberg, iTunes will be replaced by three different apps for Mac products that will each specialize in music, TV and podcasting content. Also, content previously purchased through iTunes will now be managed through its new corresponding app.
This news is just one of many updates released ahead of Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif. that is taking place on June 3. More details will likely be unveiled at that time.
In the meantime, pour one out for iTunes tonight. It was quite a revolutionary ride that helped build the digital era of music that exists today.
