Be Careful At The Beach With Floats
I’m not sure if you saw this story on the news, but it’s scary!
We all love the huge unicorn, flamingo, and bird float/rafts, but they can be dangerous to use if you’re at the beach. A young boy who was vacationing with his family at Oak Island, NC last week had to be rescued when his unicorn raft floated out to sea.
The 8 year old drifted about a half a mile from the shore on the unicorn raft. Officials think the wind probably carried the raft out to sea within seconds. The boy’s parents called 911 immediately, and the boy was rescued quickly and safely.
These floats and rafts are adorable, and look so comfy, but if you’re going to use them in the ocean, officials recommend that you anchor them or hold on to the rope attached to the raft at all times if young children are using them.
